I Haven't Brushed My Teeth In 3 Days

Brushing teeth is one of the most important parts of our daily routine. It helps us maintain good oral hygiene and prevent dental problems like cavities and gum diseases. However, there are times when we forget to brush our teeth, or we simply skip it. I am guilty of this myself as I haven't brushed my teeth in 3 days.

The Reason Why I Haven't Brushed My Teeth

Before you judge me, let me explain why I haven't brushed my teeth in 3 days. I recently had a tooth extraction, and my dentist advised me not to brush my teeth for at least 24 hours after the procedure. I followed his instructions and didn't brush my teeth for a day. However, the next day I got busy with work and forgot to brush my teeth. The same thing happened the next day, and now it has been 3 days since I last brushed my teeth.

The Consequences of Not Brushing My Teeth

I am well aware of the consequences of not brushing my teeth regularly. The first thing that comes to mind is bad breath. When we don't brush our teeth, the bacteria in our mouth multiply, and this can lead to halitosis. I have been using mouthwash and chewing gum to mask the bad breath, but it is not a permanent solution.

Another consequence of not brushing my teeth is yellow teeth. When we consume food and drinks, they leave behind stains on our teeth. If we don't brush them regularly, these stains can accumulate and make our teeth look yellow. I am already starting to notice some discoloration on my teeth, and it's not a pleasant sight.

Yellow Teeth

Not brushing my teeth can also lead to cavities and gum diseases. The bacteria in our mouth produce acid, which can erode the enamel on our teeth and cause cavities. If left untreated, cavities can lead to tooth decay and even tooth loss. Gum diseases like gingivitis and periodontitis are also common among people who don't brush their teeth regularly.

What I Plan to Do About It

Now that I am aware of the consequences of not brushing my teeth, I plan to take immediate action. The first thing I will do is brush my teeth thoroughly with a fluoride toothpaste. I will also floss and use mouthwash to ensure that my mouth is clean and fresh. I will make it a point to brush my teeth twice a day, as recommended by dentists.

Another thing I will do is visit my dentist for a checkup. I want to make sure that the tooth extraction site is healing properly and that there are no other dental problems that need to be addressed. Regular dental checkups are essential for maintaining good oral health.

Conclusion

Skipping brushing your teeth even for a day can have serious consequences on your oral health. I learned this the hard way by not brushing my teeth for 3 days. However, it's never too late to start taking care of your teeth. By brushing regularly, flossing, and visiting your dentist, you can ensure that your teeth and gums are healthy and strong.
